Army Sgt. Spencer Fayles, a combat medic with the Utah Army National Guard’s 144th Area Support Medical Company, runs to the next obstacle after successfully negotiating an inclining wall at the 2022 Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition, Volunteer Training Site-Tullahoma, Tennessee, July 28. The competition spans five physically and mentally demanding days as 14 competitors vie to be named the Army National Guard’s Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. The winners will go on to represent the Army Guard in the Department of the Army Best Warrior Competition later this year.
