Sunset as seen from Kathmandu in Nepal looking west from the city The colours are richer at this time of year In late spring from April to June increasing amounts of dust are raised into the atmosphere as the ground gets drier The humidity also increases as the monsoon season gets closer and this adds more drama to the dawn landscape In July the monsoon rains finally begin and the dust is removed from the air and less is thrown up by the wet ground The increasing vehicular traffic and the pollution it causes is partly to blame and Kathmandu suffers this problem in common with most developing Asian cities This was taken in May 2005
