The young Manxman, bade adieuto his native home at the age of six years and accompanied hisparents to Chicago, with whose growth, development and pros-perity he has been an integral part. He obtained his early education in the public schools of Chi-cago, completing his literary course in the West Side HighSchool, which he entered in his thirteenth year. He was aclass-mate of Luther Laflin Mills. After leaving school he en-tered the drug store of Dr. Jones at the corner of Eighteenthand State streets, where he familiarized himself with the detailsof pharmacy and acquired a knowledge of
