Qingbai bowl with prunus spray, new moon and constellation, late Southern Song dynasty, China, 13th century. A Qingbai bowl from Nanfeng kiln, Jiangxi province, of slightly flared U-shape. The cavetto has a moulded spray of five petalled prunus, a crescent moon and a constellation (three stars) reflected in a pond in the centre, the reverse plain. The piece was fired on the narrow unglazed rim, the foot is shallow and covered with a glaze of slightly blue tone.
