Head small; thoracic somites much swollen; anal somites with two small pointed dorsal tubercles; reddish brown, the thoracic somites more olive-brown ; a pale dorsal line with luuulate black edges ending in a band on anal somite, the thoracic somites with dorsal black spots and streaks; a pale lateral line edged with blackish. Cocoon. Pale reddish brown or yellowish, with some thorn-like knobs and an anterior dorsal hump. Genus CLETHROPHORA. Type. Clethrophora, Hinpsn. Moths Ind. ii. p. 416 (1894) distinctd. Proboscis fully developed ; palpi upturned, the 2nd joint reaching to vertex of head and smoothly scaled, the 3rd long and oblique ; frons smooth with pointed tuft of hair above ; eyes large, round ; antennae of male minutely ciliated; thorax clothed with hair only and without crests; tibiae slightly fringed with hair ; abdomen with dorsal crest at base only. Fore wing with the apex produced and acute, the termen excised below apex, angled at vein 4, then oblique and slightly dentate at vein 2 ; veins 3 and 5 from near angle of cell; 6 from upper angle ; 7, 8, 9, 10 stalked ; 11 from cell. Hind wing with veins 3, 4 from angle of cell or very shortly stalked ; 6 fully developed from or from just above angle; 6, 7 from upper angle; 8 anastomosing with the cell near base only. 6916.
