The Southport club was formed in 1978, when several model boaters, who used the marine lake at Southport came together to form the club. Model boats on display in the visitor centre and outside in large pools. The boat clubs attending the event on the Saturday 11th April and Sunday 12th April were Ormskirk and West Lancs (OWLs), Hoylake, Southport, Liverpool and Runcorn. Centre Manager, Nick Brooks, said: “Easter is a great time to visit Martin Mere. We always ensure that there is something new to see and do and it is great to welcome back the model boat clubs. All the boats will be indoors ensuring that no matter what the weather, you can have a great day out this Easter.” OTS News.
