The Bonifacio ( 30 1863-10 May 1897) was the leader of the Katipunan Society which aimed to give the Filipinos independence from the Spaniards. He was one of the heroic three (Mabini & Aguinaldo) who led the fight against the Spaniards in 1897. Born of poor parents in Tondo Manila, His father Santiagos and his Spanish Mestiza mother Both died young, his Mother died in 1881 and his father a year later. He worked as a running boy and street vendor to support his brothers and sisters. His first wife (Monica) also died of leprosy and he later married Gloria de Jesus. Self educated he learnt Spanish and read Rizal's "Noli mi Tangere" and " ".He was elected to be the leader of the Katipunans and fought bravely with poor weapons. He invited Rizal to be Leader but Rizal refused quoting the history of Cuba. In an internicene struggle that followed the gaining of indepence he was shot by a firing squad, He was poor, Aguinaldo was rich.
