The head is graduated for all sizes of bolts and pipe, bothright and left hand, within its range. It is adjusted to sizeby means of an adjusting screw which engages the head the operating, adjusting and closing rings remain in afixed position when the head is closed, the rotating of thehead body within these rings gives the diameters within therange of the head. To set the head for left hand Landis Antomatic Die Head June, 1919 RAILWAY MECHANICAL ENGINEER 373 the screw which locks the latch pin is removed and thelatch pin is rotated to the left hand graduation; the lockingscrew is then replaced and the left hand holders attached. This head which is applicable to practically all makes ofscrew machines and turret lathes, which have sufficient space to swing heads of these diameters, has been recently designedby the Landis ^Machine Company, Inc., Waynesboro, Pa.,and will be ordinarily furnished with a standard shanks may be furnished provided they are not re-quired to be larger than the standard shank.
