Quantities of roses are being cut here. S. N. OLDEST SASSAFRAS TREE CUT. An ancient sassafras tree, said to bo considerably over 200 years old, was recently cut down in the city of Harris- burg, Pa. According to J. S. Illick, of the state forestry department, this tree was the oldest of its kind in the United States. It measured thirteen feet in cir- cumference, was fifty-six feet high, and the rings indicated that the monarch was from 210 to 215 years old. An effort was made by an expert tree surgeon to pre
