The Great Barrier Island Ferry runs between Auckland City and Tryphena wharf on Great Barrier Island, an outer island in the Huraki Gulf. The Ferry, Island Navigator, is run by Sealink. Great Barrier Island is located 90km north west of Auckland City and has a 2012 population of about 850 people. With a land area of 285 Square km it is the fourth largest of New Zealand's offshore islands.
