The Martyrdom of Archbishop Cranmer, 1556, (1877). Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556) was Archbishop of Canterbury during the reigns of the English kings Henry VIII and Edward VI. Cranmer was one of the first Anglican martyrs burned for heresy in 1556.
