Itis along these lines that Mr. Ten Eick has at-tained to his present enviable position in con-nection with the business interests of his na-tive county. He was born in Bethel township, IMiamicounty, on the 14th of July, 1834, and is ason of Henry Ten Eick, who was born inSomerset county, New Jersey, August 14,. The family is of Dutch Hneage, thepaternal great-grandfather of our subject be-ing Henry Ten Eick. who came froin Hol-land in an early day. taking up his abode inNew Jersey. Durmg the Revolutionarywar he joined the colonial arm}, servingunder General Washington with the rankof captain, and participated in the battle ofBunker Hill and other memorable engage-ments. He died at the advanced age ofeighty-six years. His son, ilathew TenEick, was born in New Jersey, May 4, 1764,and was also one of the heroes of the Revolu-tion. On the gtli of April, 1796, he marriedCornelia Post, whose Ijirth occurred Jan-uary 4, 1771. With his family MathewTen Eick remo\ed from New Jersey to Ohioin 1812, making the trip by team.
