The palmeros of Chacao return to their traditional palm parade, after 2 years of not being held due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Palmeros de Chacao are inheritors of a tradition dating back to about 1770, when the parish priest José Antonio Mohedano, faced with the recurrence of the plague of yellow fever that was ravaging the Caracas valley, wanted to request clemency from God with a promise and sent to the peons of the haciendas near the mountain (today El Avila National Park), to look for the royal palm to lower its leaves, evoking the biblical passage of the entrance of Jesus to Jerusalem).
