On the 5th orders from the FirstAmerican Army placed the Thirty-third Division at the disposal of the IIFrench Army, which in turn attached it to the Seventeenth French ArmyCorps (General Henri Claudel) and directed it to move to the Blercourt area,southwest of Verdun, on the night of September 5-6.
