The result of this cautious w^ork of manyhours is a pyriform funeral urn of almost threefeet in height. Upon placing this on the beach Iremove a quantity of earth and greyish ashes fromthe interior, with the result that I find some humanbones, all broken in pieces, and underneath these amost peculiar object of rare beauty and skill ofworkmanship.^ It is a perfect specimen of the original primitivefig-leaf for women.
