Succeeds best in a light, well enriched, mellow soil. Sow early in the spring in drills 12 to 15 inches apart, 1 inch deep; thin, if necessary, to 6 inches apart. riammoth Sandwich Island. (See cut.) This variety of Salsify grows to a very large size, and resembles a good-sized Parsnip. It is very mild and delicately flavored, and very popular.
