I have recently received specimens ofcurrant roots taken from below the surface of the groundwhich are covered by this species of scale-insect. Query—Does this species infest the roots of plants? Will fruit-growers please investigate? The scale of the male (Fig. 241, lb,) is elongated and meas-ures three fourths of a line in length ; color, white; exuviaenear the anterior end.
