European bee-eaters (Merops apiaster). One is flying and two are performing a courtship display on a branch. The European bee-eater is found in southern Europe and parts of northern Africa and western Asia. It migrates in the winter to tropical Africa, northwestern and southern India and Sri Lanka. It feeds predominantly on insects, in particular bees, wasps and hornets. Photographed in Lazio, Italy.
