. PLATE 4. DISLOCATION OF THE PATELLA (STIFLE). Very commonly both patellas will be in the same condition. Causes of dislocation of the patella are slipping on rising in the stall, or the animal starting, sud- denly and the hind leg slipping too far forward, thus slackening the muscles of the stifle too much and allowing the bone to slip off.
