Christ in Limbo 1546–47 Léon Davent French The printmaker Davent was active at Fontainebleau, eventually settling in Paris. He began his career as an engraver but by about 1543–44 had turned to etching. Here Davent stayed close to Luca Penni's drawn composition (). He introduced only small changes, giving a halo to Christ and leaving out the tiny figures on the distant shore of the river Styx. He also chose to portray Eve as nude, even though Penni had added Christ in Limbo 337634
