Oasis Villa, Green Island Human Rights Memorial Park, Green Island, Taiwan
Oasis Villa at Green Island Human Rights Memorial Park on Green Island, Taiwan, was a reform and reeducation prison, built in 1972, to house political prisoners during Taiwan's martial-law period . The prison was closed when martial-law was lifted, in 1987. The inscription on the rock outside the prison's wall reads, "Our Exile, Never Forgotten." It refers to a historical event which ocurred in Shangdong, China, around 292 BC, roughly 2300 years ago.
