This is an historical photograph of The St. Petersburg Pier, a landmark pleasure pier extending into Tampa Bay from downtown St. Petersburg on the Gulf Coast of Florida, USA. With its novel architectural design of an inverted pyramid, The Pier opened in 1973 but was demolished in 2015 after deteriorating over the years. Construction began soon after on a new $76 million-dollar Pier Park that extends 3,065 feet (934 meters) into the bay and ends with a contemporary four-story Pier Head building featuring a restaurant, gift and bait shop, café and rooftop bar.
