Angiotensin II molecule. Computer model showing the structure of a molecule of the hormone Angiotensin II. Angiotensin is produced and released into the circulation mainly by the liver. It causes blood vessel constriction (vasoconstriction), increased blood pressure, and release of aldosterone from the adrenal cortex. Angiotensin II is formed from angiotensin I by the action of Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE).
