To illustrate the composition of the veg'etation of the Shinia-maquis of Cyprus the following few notes from ray diary may be quoted. The village of Kophino is situated on the small river of Vreis Potamos, southwest of Lai'naka. In this part of the island the rocky ground belongs to the Idalian formation and is chiefly white-coloured, loose, often with its layers placed edgewise or folded.
