The Kalon Minaret rises above the square that separates the Kalon Juma Mosque and the Mir-i-Arab Madrassa. Dating from 12th century, it has survived the devastation of Genghis Khan and a bombing by the Bolsheviks. It stands just over 48 meters. Bukhara, Uzbekistan.
