GARDEN PEAS. Pois, Fk. Chicharos o Ginsauies, Sp. One and a half bushels for one acre One quart will plant about loo feet of drill. CULTURE.âPeas mature earliest in a light, rich soil ; for general crop, a rich deep loam, or inclining to clay is best. Sow in double rows 6 to 8 inches , the rows 2 to 4 feet apart, the tall ones requiring brush. Commence sowing the extra early v'.-irieties as early as the ground can be worked in February or March ; continue for a succession every two weeks until June, then li-coiitinuini^ until tlie middle of August, when a good crop may be secured by sowing the extra early and early sorts for fall use. ^ hsy should be kept clean and earthed up twice during the growth. The wrinkled varieties are not as hardy as the small round - "ts. and if planted early should have a dry soil, or they are liable to rot in the ground; they are, however, the sweetest and best flavored varieties. The dwarf varieties are best suited for small gardens or for forcing, planted in rows 1 foot apart. Packets of all varieties of Feas at 10 cts. each, postpaid. Thomas Laxton. A comparatively new variety of large- podded Pea. Ihe plant is a very hardy and strong grower, producing extra large size pods in abundance. The quality is delicious, and cannot be surpassed by any other variety. The "Thomas Laxton" will mature nearly as early as any of the extra Peas, and being a wrinkled sort is much sweeter. When this variety is thoroughly known it will command equal attention with " Gradus," which has been the leading variety f- r several years past. Pt., 25 cts. (post- paid, 33 cts.) ; qt., 4o cts. (postpaid, 60 cts.); 4 qts., $L50; peck, $2 75. Surprise Pea. T
