Lung disease. Chest X-ray of a 54-year-old woman with diffuse parenchymal nodules (faint white blotches), suggestive of miliary tuberculosis (TB). Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria. The bacteria are usually inhaled in water droplets, and can progress from the lungs to the lymphatic system, as well as to other body organs. Miliary TB is characterised by a wide dissemination into the human body and by the tiny size of the lesions (1-5 mm).
