Misty Torridge Valley View: Looking from Torrington Across the River Valley Towards Taddiport, With Shadows and Hedges. Torrington, Devon, England.
View looking from Torrington along the Torridge Valley towards Taddiport. This misty scene shows morning shadow and hedge details as the mist burns off. It includes the two remaining field strips known as the 'Leper Fields'. The river Torridge which flows alongside starts its life on Woolley Moors between Bradworthy and Morwenstow. After completing a long loop, it meets the River Taw at Appledore then flows out into the Bristol Channel. It is famous for its setting in ‘Tarka the Otter’ by Henry Williamson and more lately in ‘Flow’ a novel for young adults by John Insull.
