Ancient Greek Corintinan Type Bronze Helmet, 525-500 BC. Necropolis of Hermone, "Warrior Grave". . Against grey art background. Photographer Paul E Williams. The Corintinan type of helmet, according to ancient sources, originated in Corinth, and that is why it is called Corinthian. It fully covered the head, allowing openings only for the eyes, the nose and the mouth. Its major drawback was that it limited vision and, mainly, hearing; however, it was one of the most popular helmets of hoplites (infantry soldiers) who fought together in ranks within a hoplite phalanx.
