16th Century Sundial and Wind Rose


Sundial and wind rose. On the left is an ivory compass and wind rose, made by Hans Ducker. On the right is a 16th century (c. 1574-1587) wooden cylindrical sundial dedicated to Francesco I de Medici. The column has hour lines drawn on it, with the names of the months and the zodiacs. Held in the Institute and Museum of the History of Science, Florence, Italy.
