This version is taken from a selection of Scottish, English, Irish,and foreign airs published in Glasgow about 1775 or FBIDAY, OCTOBER THIRTEENTH 73 The Trustees minutes record the fact that twelve Trus-tees were present at the meeting held on the day that thecornerstone was laid. It is also a tradition that coinswere thrown into the mortar at the conclusion of theceremony. Upon these minutes and this tradition theaction portrayed is based.^^ A procession of Trustees, Faculty, students, and citi-zens wends its way from the city of New Brunswick to theCollege grounds. Upon their arrival President Condictlays the stone and the old Dutch hymn, *We Gather To-gether to Ask the Lords Blessing,* is sung.
