I photographed this Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) in Grove Wood in Bristol near to my home. This Woodland, found on the other side of the River Frome to Snuff Mills. was threatened with development recently. I joined a campaign group to help protect the area and I thought one of the most useful things I could do was to take some photographs of the area to capture its beauty and use the images for publicity. Snuff Mills only has small patches of Bluebells so instead of going for the familiar landscape shots of woodland carpeted in blue I concentrated on close ups as I love macro photography. This photo was taken with a 50mm lens and extension tube giving it a very shallow depth of field and with dawn side light. I never tire of photographing bluebells even though they're so common.
