Lomitapide drug, molecular model. This drug is used to treat familial hypercholesterolemia, a genetic disease that leads to high blood levels of 'bad' cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, LDL) and associated cardiovascular disease. It is a microsomal triglyceride transfer protein inhibitor. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (black), hydrogen (white), oxygen (red), nitrogen (blue) and fluorine (green).
