Flicking its tongue. Phoenix, Arizona, USA: TERRIFYING images show a deadly rattlesnake illuminated by fork lightning while scouring the desert for prey. Images show how the enraged rattlesnake curling around, flaring its forked tongue and beginning its iconic rattle, warning those close that it is ready to attack. The tiger rattlesnake is a highly venomous pit viper that grows up to 24 inches long and weighs around 454 grams. Although the tiger rattlesnakes rarely bite humans, their bite is life-threatening and, if untreated, deadly. These images were taken by wildlife photographer Trent Adamson (30) in Phoenix, Arizona in the US using a Sony A7III camera. ?The rains and storms are extremely important to the lives of both the flora and fauna species that call the desert home,? said Trent. ?Including the tiger rattlesnake, who was out enjoying the weather and light rains along the edge of a storm. ?With my photos, I want to bring a new light to the animals that are so widely feared by people all over the world. ?Most people just think of snakes and other reptiles as the animals that are so greatly villainized and misrepresented so often when in reality that just isn't the way it is. ?I have been doing it for a long time but always warn others to keep a safe distance but still take the time if you encounter a snake to admire its beauty from a safe distance. ?Snakes, just like most wildlife, will only defend themselves when they feel threatened, and as long as we aren't giving them a reason to feel like they need to defend themselves for their life they are just going to go about their mediadrumimages/TrentAdamson
