Astoria Coast Guardsman commended by COMINCH Atlantic Fleet. Coast Guardsman Victor R. Peterson, Seaman, first class, of 28-44 35th Street, Astoria, , , has been awarded a letter of commendation and authority to wear the commendation ribbon for his outstanding service in making possible the eventual salvage of a flaming and derelict tanker carrying a cargo of high octane aviation gasoline. The award was made by Rear Admiral Smith in behalf of Commander in Chief, Atlantic Fleet. Peterson serves aboard a Coast Guard Combat Cutter.
