After days of speculation, Sky News have today, 2nd October, 2023, reported from the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester that the HS2 Northern Leg from Birmingham to Manchester is to be cancelled. Wendover Dean, 1st October, 2023. HS2 "mitigation" next to Jones Hill Wood in Wendover Dean, Aylesbury. HS2 have destroyed a large part of Jones Hill Wood which is an ancient woodland where rare barbastelle bats are known to roost. The HS2 mitigation has been to "translocate" felled dead tree limbs into the ground in a nearby field and putting up a few bat boxes.
