In 2010, Motor Racing Legends launched a brand-new series of historic races: the Stirling Moss Trophy, for genuine, pre-1961 sportscars and sports racers. The aim was to offer the most authentic historic motor racing possible, with longer, two-driver races at high-profile meetings. The Stirling Moss Trophy, supported by JD Classics, built on Motor Racing Legends' ethos of inviting only genuine cars built to period specification, with an expectation of driving standards that are 'gentlemanly' as well as highly competitive. From the outset, there was huge enthusiasm for the new race series, and grids were filled to overflowing. It was a tremendous honour that Sir Stirling allowed Motor Racing Legends to use his name for the new series, but his generosity and support didn't end there. In January 2011, Sir Stirling amazed the guests at the annual Motor Racing Legends Awards Dinner, when he presented the Stirling Moss Trophy winners with the actual trophy he won at the 1955 British Grand Prix - his first ever Grand Prix victory. As the Stirling Moss Trophy goes from strength to strength, 2014 saw another full season of races, with only the very best cars from this evocative era invited to take part. And the season ended on a high, when the Stirling Moss Trophy won Race Series of the Year in the International Historic Motoring Awards.
