Thecathedral of Granada is on the whole the best Renaissance buildingin Spain, and Mr. Fergusson considers that in respect of its plan itis one of the finest churches in Europe. The view of the cathedral isbeiug opened up by the removal of some of the adjoining buildings. The rich sculptures and paintings of the cathedral are dueprincipally to Alonso Cano, who fled from Valladolid to Granadawhen accused of the murder of his wife.
