The ancient five domed Cathedral of Assumption of Mother of God occupies the central square of Rostov Velikiy. The silver onion cupolas (domes) with upper part of the church was erected in the middle of 16th century and impress spectators with its elegant forms and perfect proportions. The lower parts of the cathedral walls made of limestone are dated to the 12th century.
