Cornish Pilot Gig Sea Rowling in Swanage Bay
Since its foundation in 2001, Swanage Sea Rowing Club has developed into a well established club that brings together a broad section of the Swanage community. It is a Registered Charity and currently has a membership of over 120 with ages ranging from 10-75. SSRC is a member of the Cornish Pilot Gig Association and British Rowing and has recently been awarded Club Mark for its management standards. In the summer the Club boats are used every day in Swanage bay. Weekly rowing sessions are tailored to meet the varying needs of the membership with youth training, men’s and ladies squads and general social rowing to encourage participation by all. We also offer weekly open rowing sessions for anyone who would like to ‘have a go’ at rowing (including visitors to the town). Members are supported to row at Gig races throughout the season by the club, including its own regatta in the summer, the World Championships in the Scilly Isles, The Great River Race on the Thames and to take part in various non-competitive events held in the South West.
