By Crete, Medea charms the great bronze giant named Talos that flung rocks at passing ships.

In ancient Greek mythology, the Greek hero Jason sought the Golden Fleece in Colchis to bring it back to his uncle Pelias, who had usurped the throne of Iolcus from Jason's father. With the aid of Medea, the daughter of Aeetes, the king of Colchis, Jason snatched the fleece. Medea fell in love with Jason and left Colchis with him on board Jason's ship, the Argo. On the way home by Crete, they would have been killed by the great bronze giant named Talos that flung rocks at passing ships. But, Medea tricked Talos by giving him drugs, as shown in this 1901 illustration.
