CAMINADA PASS, La. - Soldiers with the Louisiana Army National Guard, 527th Engineer Battalion, 225th Engineer Brigade, began work along Caminada Pass near Grand Isle, La., on July 13, 2010. Additional rock reinforcement, along 2,000 linear feet, will be added and the height of the wall will be raised. The rock wall creates a barrier between the Gulf of Mexico and the Louisiana wetlands to stop oil from traveling inland, in support of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill cleanup efforts.
