When several negatives are being made at the same time, it is wellto use a fixing box (Fig. 74) instead of a tray. If the plates were piledone on another in the tray, they would probably stick to one another and,when pulled apart, the emulsion would be scarred. The plates stand onend in the fixing box, fitting into grooves. Hyposulphite of soda is the standard fixer. There are not a greatnumber of fixers, as there are of developers, to choose from.
