The RTCH, or Wretch, is part of a tactical sustainment operation to resupply troops in the field. "This is the first time our battalion is supporting a brigade in a tactical environment," said Maj. McCarty, who is from the 340th. "Normally another unit handles the 79th Infantry Brigade Combat ; Every three days this movement takes place. Containers are loaded by the Vallejo-based 349th at Camp Roberts Maneuver Training Center with up to 50,000 pounds of ice, up to 10,000 Meals-Ready-to-Eat and Unit Ground Rations, repair parts, life and mission support material and transported to the Brigade Support Area. "This annual training is providing our battalion a chance to replicate theater sustainment operations," said McCarty.
