. Artistic and scientific taxidermy and modelling; a manual of instruction in the methods of preserving and reproducing the correct form of all natural objects, including a chapter on the modelling of foliage. Taxidermy. 35° TAXIDERMY AND MODELLING For the stamens, double a piece of fabric, turn over one edge, and cut—commencing at the thickened edge—six thread- like strips about half an inch in length. Do not detach these, but cut off in one piece about an inch in length, the lower half being undivided. The anthers, whose colours vary with the development of the natural flower, may be represented by colouring the tips of the stamens with any suitable pigments. Fix the stamens around a very fine white wire prepared in]the. Fig. I. Fig-S- usual manner; then place the larger portion of the corolla with the upper lip curving gracefully over, and nearly hiding, the stamens. Next attach the lower portion of the corolla, and neatly join the sides of the tube by rolling lightly with the median portion of a modelling-pin. The calyx is the next part to be considered, and this, having five long fine spreading teeth—the posterior one the longest,—is cut, out of delicate green fabric lined with wax, in the form of diagram No. 5 ; thin the edges by rolling on the finger with the head of a modelling-pin; fold around the base.
