The entire county is underlaid with veins of coal, which, how-ever, have been more extensively developed at Rock Springs thanelsewhere, and the term Rock Springs coal is synonymous through-out the west with coal of exceptional quality. The output is2,000,000 tons per annum. There are vast areas of undeveloped coal lands in the county,principally to the north of the railroad, much of which on beingprospected shows excellent coal in veins from three to twelve
