Anal III 5, not reaching caudal. Pectoral shorter than head, reaching or nearly reaching ventral; base of latter below anterior rays of dorsal. Caudal peduncle 1^ to 1^ times as long as deep. Scales radiately striated, 19-21 gi, 1J between lateral line series, which is formed of very deep scales, and ventral, 9 round caudal peduncle ; lateral line reduced to 3 or 4 tubules. Yellowish above, scales edged with black, white beneath ; a black streak on each side of the head, passing through the eye ; a blackish vertical streak at the root of the anal; dorsal and anal with a red bar and one or two black ones.
