The plant is a free grower, suc- ceeding in any soil or sit- uation. As a window plant it c o m b i n e s great hardi- ness and ease of culture with unsur- passed beauty and delicate loveliness. In the open ground it grows freely and blooms profusely all summer, and, in fact, until winter is upon it. Early frosts do not injure it, and it Mexican Primrose. blooms on un- til frozen or covered with snow. It is a plant whose merits of hardiness, case o\ culture, perpetual freedom of bloom, and unsurpassed beauty, both in color and habit, are offset by no faults whatever. Fine plants, all ready to bloom, Gloxinia. These are among the most beautiful of all our summer-blooming plants. The rosette of velvety green leaves is surmounted with a cluster of lovely trumpet-shaped flowers as large as Gladioli blooms. The coloring is exquisite ; the groundwork of many is pure white, with throats of blue, scarlet, rose, crimson, or velvety purple ; and the tubes are of bright color, with white throat. The bulljs should be started in a warm place : greenhouse, hot-bed, or sunny window. They will bloom until late in summer, when they should be dried off", letting the leaves die ; the pots can be kept over winter in a cellar free from frost, or under the stage of a greenhouse. 20 cts. each, 6 for $1 ;
