Chair presented to the Lord Mayor of London, 1850. '...a handsomely-carved chair, the work of an inhabitant of chair is carved from solid oak, and bears the arms of the City of London and Borough of Rye; underneath which is carved, in old English letters:- "Presented by the Corporation of Rye to Thomas Farncomb, Esq., Lord Mayor of London May 23, 1850'. The chair was a gift to Thomas Farncomb, Lord Mayor of London, to mark his state visit the town of Rye in Sussex. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
