British artist Ralph Peacock painted "The Sisters" in 1900. Peacock later married the elder sister. The younger sister is Ethel. The great charm of this painting lies in the color scheme. The gray shades of the dresses contrast agreeably with the mahogany brown of the background, both of which serve to display the complexions of the girls and the golden and rich brown hues of their hair. The painting now hangs in the Tate Gallery in London, England.
